In celebration of childrenʻs day, Tokyo Midtown invites artists from around the world to design carp streamers that are hung up throughout the park in the spring.
This koinobori design draws inspiration from Hawaiian mo‘olelo, depicting the legendary stories of Hina’s ascent to the moon and Maui lassoing the sun. Featuring intricate patterns and motifs inspired by kapa cloth and Polynesian tattoos, each element represents the deities’ strength and mana, capturing the essence of their powerful narratives.
